A Wacky Shopping Experience
Walmart announced it will be hosting a one-hour live stream 18th December 2020, on TikTok, where users can shop for Walmart fashion items featured by TikTok creators without having to leave the app.
Why?
It is imperative for the shopping experience to get more social due to the booming creator economy. It means content creators would want to monetise their content in every way possible.
It would be like a live window display on your screen, only thousands of them as you scroll down! Imagine that.
Honestly, I don’t fancy it.
Current Scenario
- Brands currently create content & leverage the same on their Instagram store to sell products. The one-click payment tech enables purchases without leaving the social platform.
- The second layer is how influencers are paid to create content for brands. It does not allow for a direct purchase which creates friction in the consumer journey.
The perspective of social shopping
The move to live-stream content creation & selling would enable direct purchases removing that frictional layer.
